Holiday Randomness

It’s been a while, sorry about that. We’ve been all over the place in the last two weeks and none of the places are the best for cellphone reception or internet. We spent a few days in the Berg and then headed down to Port Edward for Christmas. The images below are really rather random and there isn’t much of a theme. There’s still a week of holidays left though so I should hopefully be able to get some pics around Durban.

I hope you’re all having a good holiday so far. All the best for the New Year. x

Recollections of Childhood

We spent the weekend in Westbrook and took a trip to the Litchi Orchard Market in Salt Rock on Saturday, followed by breakfast at Sage. This is one of my snaps I took while waiting for our food to arrive. Nothing beats Spiderman waiting for a pizza. It reminds me of how much I used to love watching people making my pizzas at The Webb in Port Edward, when I was young.

Here’s to reliving childhood memories. Have a good week everyone! x

Meet The Vissers

One of my oldest friends got married this weekend to the man of her dreams and it was one of the happiest weddings I’ve been to in a long, long time. I always knew she would make a beautiful bride, I’m just super happy she found a husband who knows just how lucky he is. Hané and Constant, may you have a long and happy life together. Love you both. x

Mango Summer 2012

“MANGO, Spain’s most famous international fashion company, opened its sixth store in South Africa this month. With four retail stores in Gauteng and one store in the Western Cape, the Gateway Theatre of Shopping store marks the brand’s debut in Kwazulu Natal. Located in one of the country’s premium shopping malls, the store offers a 240 square metre floor of selling space.

The interior design of the new space mirrors that of the existing South African MANGO stores. Neutral tones and materials are used to create the perfect backdrop for the apparel and accessories which take centre stage. Conceptualized and constructed by the International Mango Interior Design Team, the Gateway store reflects the clean, natural and minimalist look of MANGO stores around the world.

As the number one shopping mall in Kwazulu Natal, Gateway Theatre of Shopping was the obvious choice for the first MANGO store in the region. Home to multiple international fashion brands such as GUESS and Zara, the centre affords MANGO the perfect retail environment and a relevant customer base. Launching with the MANGO Summer 2012 Collection, the new store will house the entire MANGO Collection for women; including the suit, casual and jeanswear ranges. The store will also stock a range of MANGO accessories including handbags, footwear, swimwear and jewellery.

The MANGO concept, based on an alliance between a quality product in accordance with the latest fashion trends and affordable prices, continues to succeed in the South African market. The new Gateway Theatre of Shopping space promises to align with this concept; representing a calling card for the MANGO brand and creating a dynamic image in accordance with the personality of its customers.”

You can see my take on the new Mango store at Gateway here. Below images taken from Campaign disc as well as Fashion Gone Rogue and Fashionista.com.

Weekend Randomness

We took a quick trip down the coast yesterday and of course we had to stop at the Waffle House, then we took a detour through Glenmore and Leisure Bay as neither of us has been there for a few years. New Year’s Eve on Kid’s beach really used to be something awesome and although Peter Pan Bay wasn’t my favourite beach it was nice to see it again. The other two are just aerial shots of a Cycas plant and Roy. Exciting what!!

Portrait of a Market

I have been sooooo slack this last month. Work has been a bit hectic which is why my blog has been a bit sparse. It was a weekend of markets with the  I Heart Market yesterday and the Wonder Market today. After almost a month of rain and really weird weather the sun finally came out. Yay!!! I missed adding the pic of Nadia last month but the rest are all from this weekend. Hope you had a good one and have a great week ahead!

Summer Dreaming

I am dying for Summer holidays to arrive. After almost a week of rain we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend in Durban. Today was beautiful. I haven’t seen so many people on the beach out of season in years, clearly everyone had the same idea. The trick is to get there early and leave by lunch. The last pic shows just how low the Spring Tide was today, Vetch’s reef was clearly visible for a change.

Shaun and Bianca Say I Do

If the five days I spent in England this September weren’t the busiest I’ve had in the last few years then I’m clearly suffering from a case of Amnesia. Taking photos at a family wedding is always going to be difficult. It’s hard to balance the line between photographer and guest as you want to get as many photos as possible while still taking some time to enjoy yourself. From the second we arrived in Devizes I was put to work stuffing confetti cones, writing place cards, stamping confetti hearts out of sheet music and so on. What’s family for if not to work them to death? Haha, no not really! Thanks to my lovely aunt and uncle for sponsoring my stay, I’d never have made it otherwise.

Right from the start, Bianca had a vision of 1920′s glamour for her wedding and with careful planning and quite a bit of stressing the whole day turned out perfectly. From her Jenny Packham dress and Kat Swank headpiece right down to the sixpence on the bottom of her Kate Spade shoes, Bianca looked every inch the part. It was a wee bit dark for my camera (minus flash) in the Little Theatre, so I didn’t manage to get much of the ceremony. Sorry guys, I felt a bit arb standing on stage with everyone staring at me.

In any case enough blathering on. Welcome to the family Bianca and thanks for making an honest man of my cousin at last. Shaun I love you!

Some of the pics colours went a bit odd when saving for web. Eek!!
