Portrait of a Market

I have been sooooo slack this last month. Work has been a bit hectic which is why my blog has been a bit sparse. It was a weekend of markets with the  I Heart Market yesterday and the Wonder Market today. After almost a month of rain and really weird weather the sun finally came out. Yay!!! I missed adding the pic of Nadia last month but the rest are all from this weekend. Hope you had a good one and have a great week ahead!

Summer Dreaming

I am dying for Summer holidays to arrive. After almost a week of rain we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend in Durban. Today was beautiful. I haven’t seen so many people on the beach out of season in years, clearly everyone had the same idea. The trick is to get there early and leave by lunch. The last pic shows just how low the Spring Tide was today, Vetch’s reef was clearly visible for a change.

What a Day for a Market

If you’re not at the I Heart Market yet, what are you waiting for? The weather is beautiful and the place is buzzing. It’s super hot out there so be sure to grab yourself some lemonade. Have a good weekend x

Hall & Woodhouse Bar and Restaurant, Bath

I don’t live in Bath but if I did I’d probably be at the Hall & Woodhouse Bar and Restaurant a lot. The decor is amazing, the vibe is fantastic and the food is superb (enough gushing adjectives for you?).

Hall & Woodhouse is located right in the centre of Bath and offers award winning Badger cask ales, lagers from around the world and offers a good-sized menu of fresh, seasonal dishes. If you’re going there with a South African budget start saving though as mains start at around £15 with the Fillet Steak topping out at £22.

Opened in 2010, Hall & Woodhouse has four floors including a stunning rooftop terrace.  “Dine in the restaurant, sip drinks in the potting shed, socialise in the pantry/common room or soak up the sunshine on our roof terrace. Private dining is available in the Pavillion, perfect for business meetings or events.”

If you’re visiting Bath for the weekend, I highly recommend making some time for lunch or dinner or even a quick drink, you won’t be disappointed.

Take a look at their website for menus, online bookings, latest news and specials.

Dolphin Stories

Just a quick note to say hello and hope you all had a good weekend. Here’s a pic of some dolphins we saw earlier today. Biggest pod I’ve ever seen (obviously they’re not all in the pic).

Have a good week. x

Shaun and Bianca Say I Do

If the five days I spent in England this September weren’t the busiest I’ve had in the last few years then I’m clearly suffering from a case of Amnesia. Taking photos at a family wedding is always going to be difficult. It’s hard to balance the line between photographer and guest as you want to get as many photos as possible while still taking some time to enjoy yourself. From the second we arrived in Devizes I was put to work stuffing confetti cones, writing place cards, stamping confetti hearts out of sheet music and so on. What’s family for if not to work them to death? Haha, no not really! Thanks to my lovely aunt and uncle for sponsoring my stay, I’d never have made it otherwise.

Right from the start, Bianca had a vision of 1920′s glamour for her wedding and with careful planning and quite a bit of stressing the whole day turned out perfectly. From her Jenny Packham dress and Kat Swank headpiece right down to the sixpence on the bottom of her Kate Spade shoes, Bianca looked every inch the part. It was a wee bit dark for my camera (minus flash) in the Little Theatre, so I didn’t manage to get much of the ceremony. Sorry guys, I felt a bit arb standing on stage with everyone staring at me.

In any case enough blathering on. Welcome to the family Bianca and thanks for making an honest man of my cousin at last. Shaun I love you!

Some of the pics colours went a bit odd when saving for web. Eek!!

I Love Pop Up Shop

If you’re in Toti in September make sure you pop into the Galleria. Some of my favourite I Heart Marketeers and other fantastic brands are having a month long pop-up shop. It’s gonna be a good one guys so don’t miss it.

Makaranga Garden Lodge

After yesterday’s seriously hot weather I was really happy to wake up to something approximating normality today. As there was a big Triathlon down at the beach we headed inland to Kloof for some lunch and a wander around Makaranga Garden Lodge. They serve seriously delicious pizza, so definitely order yourself some if you visit. As a side note, if you’re going to lark about in fallen leaves and flowers, be prepared to itch until you get home.

Misty Mornings

This is just a quick snap I took before a meeting at Bosch Hoek this morning. It was so misty, I’m frankly amazed I managed to pull back this much detail.
