We bought a harbour cruise deal through Groupon a few months ago and with the deadline fast approaching we all figured we’d best use it before we lost it. The Allen Gardiner was used as an air/sea rescue launch in WWII and has quite an interesting history. Food on the boat is quite expensive but it’s delicious and just the fact that you’re on a boat with a totally different view of Durban allows the pricing to go straight over your head. There are four different cruises on offer throughout the day and the occasional special midnight cruise as well. Visit the Allen Gardiner website for more info.
Forever New – Ice Cream Parlour
If you know me, you’ll know I love Forever New. Before the arrival of Zara it was pretty much the only store that served up the latest trends for our current season instead of leaving us 6 months behind. While they are quite expensive when compared to other popular retail outlets, their quality of fabrics and production is really high, and these days that’s something you really can’t value too highly. Below is a selection of my favourite pieces from the new collection.
Ice cream Parlour, the new collection from Forever New, is a carnival of delight featuring geometric patterns, spots and lace in soft and pretty pastels. The collection is elegant and dreamy with textures of candy floss and a colour palette of rainbow ice cream. Sugary pinks, soft turquoise, mint, lemon and lilac are offset with splashes of vibrant neon hues in yellow, chartreuse and magenta. The collection consists of prom dresses and peplum shapes that are feminine and girly with a fresh update of new colours and prints.
Hard case clutches are in statement colours and heels come in an array of candy hues, with new wedge and strap shapes. Accessories are bold in vibrant neon’s and textured metals with torque necklaces that add an edge to the soft and pretty apparel. Treat yourself to this sweet and feminine collection; a pastel perfect introduction to spring.
Ice Cream Parlour is currently available in all Forever New stores.

Meet The Lynches
Since we met Bevan and Philippa a year ago at the I Heart Market, we’ve managed to bump into them pretty much every month somewhere in Durban. While I don’t know them as well as I would like to, what I do know is that they couldn’t be more perfect for each other if they tried. They are two of the nicest, most genuine people I have met and I am truly honoured that they asked me to photograph their wedding. Thanks for being two of the bravest people I know and giving me a chance guys, I wish you nothing but the best for the future.
Please note I will add a detailed list of suppliers as soon as Bevan and Pippa are back from honeymoon.
Is it really Winter?
It’s tough living in Durban in Winter. You never know what to wear. It started out rather cold this morning so by the time the sun came out and we decided to stop at the beach for a while on our way home, I was wearing the most inappropriate beachwear possible. This means I didn’t move around much, so the images are pretty much all taken from one spot. Sorry about that.
Sunday Morning Gad About
Today was the last day of the Home and Garden show at the Exhibition Centre so we popped in to see what was going on. The only thing really worth paying for is the Home Grown section as the main hall is filled with the usual tat and chain store furniture. Not that there aren’t good deals to be had but it’s just not really my thing.
We spent most of our time at the iKhaya stall talking to Genevieve Motley. Gen is pretty much the original and best laser cut jewellery designer in the country so be sure not to buy any knock-offs (you don’t want to lose out on the quality). I love the wooden cake toppers by iKhaya, which were originally created for Gen’s wedding. Below are just a few snaps from the stall and a quick one of the Hilton on our way back to the car.
